Grace: It Makes Us All Son’s of God (a quarantined reflection on Galatians 3:26-4:7), 7 June 2020

There are good people involved in the editing and publishing of new Bible translations. Their hearts are genuinely in the right place. I trust that and believe that wholeheartedly. However, I get a little testy when the nuances of the original language are lost, even when the editing adjusts them to our modern sensibilities.

This is what I believe happens when modern Bible editors transform Paul’s words “sons of God” into the more politically correct “children of God” or even “sons and daughters of God.” Paul was already being radically progressive and egalitarian with his language. We just struggle to see it.

Your inheritance and your identity as a “son of God” is the culmination of the gospel message and the primary argument Paul wants to make to his readers of this letter to the Galatians. Click the video link below for more.
