Grace: There Are No ‘Yea, buts…’ Allowed (a quarantined reflection on Galatians 2:11-21) – 10 May 2020

I honestly struggled to prepare for this service. This is part of the reason I don’t like “sermon series.” Sometimes the broken ways of the world get in the way of the passages you’re scheduled to preach. But, then it hit me. Our primary passage this morning wasn’t a hindrance to what my heart was yearning for me to say. In fact, upon further reflection, the Holy Spirit was affirming the message laid on my heart.

Ahmaud Arbery and Darrin Patrick’s deaths are a tragedy (hard stop). But, if you Google their names right now what you’ll find is a lot of “Yea, but…” statements.

We need to talk about those “yea, but…” statements, church. Paul had some thoughts on this very thing as well in Galatians 2.
