Living for the Weekend: Maundy Thursday

Like most of you, I work a 9-5 job Monday through Friday. I have a job description. I have a boss. I have expectations. Like many of you, I often feel like the job description and the expectations drive my life. There are times when I feel as if I don’t get enough time to myself. I don’t get enough time off. I have heard some of you use the phrase, I’m just “living for the weekend,” and because I am bivocational, I totally get it!

Well, that’s not at all what this message series is about. Ha! Yea, some of us “live for the weekend” in a literal sense. We go through the daily grind Monday through Friday and “live it up” on Saturday and Sunday, then start the cycle all over again. In this message series, we are talking about living for the weekend in a completely different sense. We are talking about living for the¬†weekend that changed the course of history!

In this four week series, I am speaking through the events of Easter weekend. Starting with the Thursday prior to Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday and reflecting on each day in between, I am exploring the important events of each day and the impact those events have on the church, on the world, and on our lives. I hope you find this first message in the series worthwhile.
