I am proud to be a part of the great community organization A Better Bellevue. A Better Bellevue exists to campaign for a healthy, growing, and prosperous Bellevue. To pursue this end we are promoting the end of Bellevue’s prohibition era dry laws. Bellevue’s century old dry laws have literally choked out our community’s economic growth by sending viable destination restaurants and cafes to other communities where in which they could sell wine or beer, not to mention the diners who enjoy a cocktail or spirit with their evening meals. While Bellevue faces all of the same social challenges often connected to an over indulgence of alcoholic beverages, our community is barred from collecting the tax revenue every other community in Allegheny County is privy to as a result of allowing alcohol sales.
Here is a short piece from the WPXI Channel 11 evening news in which I was interviewed concerning the alcohol referendum and A Better Bellevue’s recent success in collecting more than 650 signatures ensuring the referendum will be put to a vote on May 19, 2015.
